- Maximum of five boxes will be accepted.
- Each box needs to be a size that a person of average strength can lift and carry. If you can't easily pick it up, a volunteer won't be able to do it either.
- To prevent sensitive documents from spilling out and blowing away no bags or open boxes will be accepted.
- This event is for consumers only, no businesses, please.
NBC 4 doesn’t just report on ID theft, it does something to help protect you by offering the NBC 4 Shred-It Day. Here’s why it matters: When you shred papers with personal information, you keep it out of the hands of criminals. NBC 4 will get rid of your sensitive paperwork with free document destruction from Shred-It.
NBC 4 Shred-It Day has shredded 845 tons of paper products and close to $25,000 has been raised for Nationwide Children's Hospital since May 2004! You can join NBC 4 and the Better Business Bureau to shred-it and forget it on Saturday, November 1.
Individuals throughout Central Ohio are invited to get their personal documents, CDs, VHS cassettes and more shredded at the Jerome Schottenstein Center's scarlet parking lot by a fleet of shredding trucks from Shred-It Mobile Shredding and Recycling. There is a five standard-size box limit per household.
The event provides individuals (no businesses are permitted) with the opportunity to dispose of and shred the following:
• Financial and Legal Documents
• Receipts
• Tax and Medical Records
• Floppy Disks, CDs and VHS Cassettes
There is no need to remove tapes, paper clips or rubber bands, however it is requested that papers be removed from binders and hardbound notebooks.
Since its inception in May 2004, NBC 4 Shred-It Day has attracted thousands of Central Ohioans who have dropped off and shredded nearly 1.7 million pounds of personal documents.
NBC 4 talent, staff and volunteers will be on hand with carts and man-power to unload and transport boxes to the shredding vehicles. Shred-It Mobile Shredding and Recycling uses shredders that utilize a crosscut shredding process, creating a crisscross cut of paper. These crisscross paper pieces are no more than 5/8" in size, which provides for a greater security than conventional strip-cut shredders. One hundred percent of all shredded documents are recycled.
